Can a tour be provided to suit my own interests?
Yes. Simply message me to make clear what your interests are and which element of the wartime past you are interested in. You might even have a particular personal family-connected story which can then be integrated into the tour, via research.
How do I book
Just message me via Contact, either by e-mail or phone, and I will get back to you.
How long are the Tours?
Broad details of timescales are included opposite each Tour. This can of course vary depending on the group, weather and also a particular bespoke tour.
What should I wear?
In a typical British fashion, you can get four seasons in one day. Rain and wind in the summer, and the most beautiful, if cold, day in the winter. The most important thing is that in the winter you dress to be warm, while in the summer dress light, but also to keep dry! The changing weather all adds to the excitement of the day. Importantly, make sure that you wear decent walking footwear.
Can Tours be adapted for mobility needs?
Yes. Clearly the Tours are walking tours so some degree of mobility will be required. However, Tours can be cut short, condensed or altered to cater for a walking stick, wheelchair or mobility scooter. Such Tours will avoid steeper climbs, and will be based in and around key wartime features of Lerwick.
If you need any support with mobility, please contact Ability Shetland
Are Tours suitable for children?
Yes. Whilst the Tours are geared for an adult audience, specific bespoke tours could be adapted which would be suitable for children.
